Alec Martin
Veteran of the American Blues Festival UK tours in the 60's (although he swears he wasn't old enough to get in), Alec was a former presenter on Greater Manchester Rock Radio and music journalist.
He started his blues band Night Train in 1977 ("for the love of blues and because everybody else were doing punk and rock", and to date, the band are still very busy, with Colne, Burnley, Bolton and Bowness blues festivals under their belts and a strong following in the north west.
As well as this, Alec is an acoustic artist and his Buskers Ball Open Mic sessions are acknowledged as being one of the first in the country, starting in 1993.
Alec's particular penchant is for the blues of the 50's and 60's (Jimmy Reed being a particular favourite after he saw him at Manchester's Free Trade Hall) but he also has a great fondness for the UK blues bands that formed the 'British blues revival of the mid to late 60's.
